Late Bloomers

So, one of the many things that surprised me here in Texas was when I was outside with our dogs after sunset, and stumbled upon the Stemless Evening Primrose growing in the field behind our house. It’s just amazing to see the flowers come out as the sun sets – completely opposite of what we might think with most flowers. Yet one more bit of information I learned about Texas.

Just an example of something you might never notice if you don’t go outside at night and look around the fields near your home. You’ll be surprised what you find!

As you can see, Holly doesn’t really care about flowers in the yard – she’s content to chew on any stick she can find – but she makes a nice background for several Stemless Evening Primrose’s.
