Sigma 24mm f1.4 Art

Any lens with a maximum aperture of f1.4 catches my attention, and the Sigma 24mm f1.4 ART is no exception. I was looking for a lens that would be good for all around street or landscape photography, as well as night shooting. I’ve read both good and bad reviews of this lens, so I decided to try it myself. Here’s some of my initial thoughts.

First, I will say that it’s large. Remember, I’m coming from a time with lenses were a bit more compact. Also, in college, I shot with Olympus OM bodies and lenses, so I was used to very compact equipment. Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let me say that I like the results from this lens. I think Sigma has done a great job of building a lens that is very sharp and fast. Focusing is quick, and I’m pleased with the overall performance of this lens. I do wish it was a little smaller, though.

I think the best thing about this lens is its results. Below I’ve posted several images I’ve taken with this lens. I love the sharpness, and lack of distortion. I’d say, overall, this is a very versatile, and a fairly fast, lens.

If you’ve used, or even heard things about this lens, I’d love to hear about it.
